Birth Doula

Imagine embarking on a 48 hour adventure race in an area you’ve never been. You don’t know exactly what you will experience, and it might be a little scary. If you had the option to bring a guide with you, wouldn’t you want one?

That guide is a birth doula.

We provide support throughout pregnancy, labor & birth, and early postpartum.

What is a birth doula?

A doula is a trained and certified professional who assists the birthing person and their partner through labor and delivery. They provide constant emotional and physical support as well as evidence-based information to help guide the decision making process throughout pregnancy and birth. Doulas are not medical professionals and do not replace anyone on the healthcare or support team. Their sole purpose is to provide constant, unwavering support to help you achieve a healthy, satisfying, and empowering birth experience.

Women who have a birth doula tend to experience:

  • Increased spontaneous vaginal birth (going into labor on their own)

  • Shorter labor

  • Decreased rate of cesarean birth

  • Decreased interventions during vaginal birth (e.g. vacuum or forceps assisted)

  • Overall more positive birth experience

What is included in a birth doula package?

Your investment covers:

  • 2 in-home prenatal visits to discuss your birth wishes, practice labor positions and comfort measures and ensure you are prepared for postpartum

  • 24/7 availability for communication

  • Continuous support throughout labor & birth

  • 1 postpartum visit

  • General pelvic health education (opportunity to add pelvic floor therapy)
